Hyderabad (India) 3 juli 2016. Om een goede indruk te krijgen van het hedendaagse India zochten wij contact met de Abhaya en Prerana Waldorf schools in Hyderabad. Onze jongste kinderen gingen er veertien dagen naar school en wij verbleven in het gastenappartement en leefden het dagelijkse leven van de school mee. In ruil voor ons verblijf maakte ik een muurschildering in de ontvangstruimte van Prerana. Een meisje loopt door een woud en wordt gevolgd door een giraf, een koe, een tijger, een olifant, een haas en een pauw. Het parelhoen kwam als laatste toevoeging, het liep in levende lijve op het schoolterrein rond met zijn constante doordringende gekakel. Bij navraag bleek dat te zijn om de cobra’s af te schrikken die daar (in het centrum van een stad met 16 miljoen inwoners) onzichtbaar rondkropen.		Hyderabad (India) July 3, 2016. To get an accurate impression of contemporary India we contacted the Abhaya and Prerana Waldorf schools in Hyderabad. Our youngest children went to school there for two weeks. We stayed in the guestrooms and lived the daily life with the teachers and students. In exchange I painted a mural for the entrance of the school. A girl walks in a forest and is folowed by a giraffe, a cow, a tiger, an elephant, a hare and a peacock. The guinea-fowl was added in the end, it walked around the school grounds, continuously clucking its penetrating call. We were told it was to scare of the cobras, which -in the centre of a city with 16 milion inhabitants- were invisably crouching around.
